4:47pm Wed 11th Feb 09:: written by Dan Darlington

Plans for a floodlit hockey pitch in Marlow have been submitted to Wycombe District Council (WDC).

The bid for a new all-weather playing surface on unused ground at Marlow Sports Club has been made jointly by the club and Sir William Borlase's Grammar School.

The pitch is expected to cost in the region of £375,000 and will be built on flood plain land next the to River Thames.

England Hockey has given the proposal its backing and a decision is anticipated by WDC's planning committee in March.

If the bid is approved and construction goes to plan the pitch could be ready for use by the end of 2010.
