Haskell in club versus country row

9:38am Thu 4th Mar 10

Flanker James Haskell has been caught in the middle of a country-versus-club tussle.

The 24-year-old has started all of England's three Six Nations matches this season, but with no international match this weekend, his club Stade Francais expected the Windsor born former Maidenhead RFC colt to return for a league clash.

However the RFU are refusing to release Haskell on the grounds that an agreement was signed between them and the French club allowing Haskell to stay with England.

Stade Francais say no agreement has ever been signed and have challenged the RFU to produce the document.

Negotiations are continuing to try to resolve the row.
