Wall's brace fires Magpies to convincing win

5:44pm Sat 6th Feb 10:: written by Charles Watts

Two goals in either half gave Maidenhead a deserved 4-0 victory over a dejected Bishops Stortford side at York Road.

Alex Wall continued his fine recent form with a brace while midfielders Sam Collins and Bradley Quamina also found the target for the Magpies.

The game started quietly but that all changed on 34 minutes when the home side went in front.

Substitute Kieron Knight, on for the injured Kieron St Aimie, played a wonderful ball into the path of Sam Collins who took a touch before finishing powerfully into the bottom corner.

Then right on the stroke of half-time the Magpies doubled their lead. Wall released Jamal Fyfield on the left and then powered into the box to prod the return cross past Deniz Mehmet in the Stortford goal.

After the break Maidenhead continued to dictate the play and it was no surprise when they extended their lead just after the hour mark.

Wall's pass released Bradley Quamina who cut across Alex Bentley before firing his shot past Mehmet.

The home side rounded off the scoring on 74 minutes when Wall beat the offside trap before unleashing a powerful drive into the back of the net.

Maidenhead: Tardif, Bradshaw, Fyfield, Behzadi, Nisbet, Saroya, Brown, Quamina (Ochoa), Wall, St Aimie (Knight, Smith), Collins.

Bishops Stortford: Mehmet, Nunn, Jones (Sergent), Lette-Jallow, Bentley, Jones, Azzopardi (Abdullah), Shulton, Brayley, Sherringham, Essandoh.
