A 63-year-old man from Maidenhead tore up the record books at the recent Greater London Powerlifting Championships.

Peter Barrett, who has trained at the BodyZone Braywick Gym for the past 12 years, broke two Greater London powerlifting records and finished first in his age group at the top event.

He squatted 80kg, bench pressed 70kg and deadlifted 145kg, which is three times his bodyweight, on route to winning the title.

Barrett’s bench press and deadlift were new records and his total of 195kg across all three disciplines earned him his success.
