Slough Jets head coach Peter Russell has announced the club have released James Knight in an attempt to strengthen the roster.

"It is never an easy thing to do to release a player from any team, but I've released James Knight from his contract with the Slough Jets," said Russell.

"As head coach it's my responsibility to put out the best all-round team that will complement each other in all areas and I feel by making this tough decision I can push towards achieving this."

Russell added: "I will be looking to replace James in the line up, hopefully ahead of the weekend's games. It's important for me to find a player who will not only do the job I'm looking for on the ice but who will also gel within the excellent team spirit we're starting to form.

"James is a good player, who fitted in well within the room and leaves the Jets with mine and the rest of the management team's thanks and best wishes for the future."

An announcement regarding a new signing is expected later in the week.
