Four former junior athletes from Maidenhead RC represented their universities in the European Universities Sports Association Rowing Championships held in Kruszwica, Poland last weekend.

The strength of the opposition was commented on by British team manager Ian South who said many of the teams in Kruszwica had also competed at the World Rowing Championships in Posnan only the week before.

This was the crème de la crème of European rowing and 25 out of the 35 crews from the 18 universities representing British Universities progressed to the A finals.

Tough weather conditions on the Lake did not stop Louise Entwistle from winning a silver medal in the womens quad for University of London.

Max Gerrard also won silver for the University of Birmingham in the lightweight men’s quad.

Laurian Pepper won bronze in the women’s lightweight double for Loughborough University.

Natalie Trinder (University of the West of England) competed in the lightweight single sculls and had to settle for third in the B final.
