Former Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer is targeting Sunningdale as the venue for his first senior major win.
The German, who captained Europe to a record victory over USA in 2004 and received an honourary OBE, is part of the all-star field taking to the famous course on July 23 for The Senior Open Championship.
“Winning my first senior major championship is one of my main goals for the 2009 season and it would be great to do it in The Senior Open at Sunningdale,” said Langer.
“I won the European Open there in 1985 so it is a course I know well, even if it has changed since then.”
Langer, who represented Europe on 10 occasions as a Ryder Cup player, added: “I finished fourth in The Senior Open last year but didn’t play to the top of my game so I would love to improve this year and win the title.
“I’ve been playing well in America and won the Casa Serena Open the last time I played in Europe on the Senior Tour so I feel ready to challenge and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Langer is a double major winner after claiming two US Masters titles at Augusta in 1985 and 1993. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.
