Mitchell awarded Phoenix honour

Rob Mitchell was named Phoenix RFC's 1st team player of the year and Jerry Missen scooped the President's Trophy at the club's annual awards ceremony.

Outgoing chairman, founder club member and club president, Steve Rafferty paid tribute to all members who had served the club during his three years as chairman and particularly to the club captains during this period Mike Hudson and the Edd Dibb. Steve Marsden is the club's new chairman.

Captain Edd Dibb summarised a successful season which saw Phoenix field three teams on a regular basis, reach the final of the Buckinghamshire RFU Shield for the third year running and seen their youth section continue to flourish. Former youth player Matt Symmonds was singled out after playing a large part in Berkshire under 20's successful season.

Trophy winners: Clubman of the Year - Andrew Brench; Veteran of the Year - Alan Herd; Young Player of the Year - Charlie Herd; Most improved Player of the Year - Mark Jones; ; 1st Team Player of the Year - Rob Mitchell; 2nd Team Player of the Year - Mark LePeau; 3rd Team Player of the Year - Luke Saunders; Players' Player of the Year - Dave Harris; Special Award for Services to the Club - Steve Turner; President's Trophy - Jerry Missen.
