Desborough Bowls Club's latest star recruit Mark Bantock has been chosen to captain England in the British Isles International Series at Belmont BC, Belfast on June 27 and 28.

Bantock, who has had lengthy spells with Gerrards Cross and Iver Heath, is taking a full part in league and county events at York Road.

A Commonwealth Games silver medallist in 2006 in the pairs with Ian Bond Bantock will enjoy the company of a number of talented young players like Andy Knapper and Mark Clisby making their mark at Desborough.

Two years ago the Maidenhead club attracted former Brighton-based women's star Debbie Stavrou, the new world indoor champion, to their ranks.
