England won the London Sevens crown at Twickenham on Sunday to put themselves in contention for the overall IRB Sevens Series title.
Former Maidenhead RFC youngster Chris Cracknell was instrumental in England's charge for glory in front of over 36,000 fans.
It took a thrilling sudden death extra-time try from scrum-half Micky Young against New Zealand to clinch the trophy after Exeter Chiefs star Cracknell and his teammates battled back from 19-0 down at half-time to 26-26 at full-time.
Young grabbed his second try of the game three minutes into extra-time, adding to those scored by Uche Oduoza, James Rodwell and Dan Norton to take victory 31-26.
England had beaten Scotland 26-12 in the semi-final.
With just one round to play - in Edinburgh this weekend - England are second in the overall table behind South Africa.
