Haskell and Kennedy get the call from Johnson

Despite being snubbed by British & Irish Lions coach Ian McGeechan for the tour to South Africa, James Haskell and Nick Kennedy have been selected for England's test series with Argentina.

Martin Johnson has called up ex-Maidenhead RFC youngster Haskell and former Claires Court School pupil Kennedy for games against the Barbarians at Twickenham on May 30 and Argentina both at Old Trafford on June 6 and in Salta on June 13.

Recalled to the squad after an injury-plagued year is Ascot's Lewis Moody.

Former Maidenhead colt Tom Guest has been selected in the England Saxons squad for the Churchill Cup in USA.

Ugo Monye, whose family reside in Cippenham, was not selected in either squad as he is part of the Lions party.

Team manager Johnson said: "This is a very strong squad full of a mixture of experience and young talent. I'm sure that any of the uncapped players will take the step up from the Saxons to the senior test arena if they are given the opportunity.

"I'm looking forward to all three games and the three day training camp this week, which will give us further invaluable time with the squad."

England Saxons coach Stuart Lancaster said: "We have a great balance of players in the squad with youth and experience. All of the players are looking forward to challenging themselves in Denver.

"The Churchill Cup is a massive stepping stone for players and we want to create an environment that encourages them to push for senior selection.

"There is no bigger honour than playing for your country and I know this group of players will embrace that and enjoy every minute."
