Bourne End man cleared of gun factory charges

A man from Bourne End has been cleared of gun factory charges at Reading Crown Court yesterday.

Garry Sylvester Lewis, 38, of Blind Lane, was found not guilty of nine charges by a jury, relating to converting imitation firearms into live weapons.

Co-defendant Grant Wilkinson, (pictured), 34, of no fixed address, was convicted of all nine offences, which included conspiracy to convert imitation firearms into firearms; conspiracy to sell or transfer firearms; conspiracy to sell or transfer ammunition; two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life; and two counts of possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Wilkinson is due to be sentenced today at 10am.
