Burnham move six points clear

9:05am Thu 11th Mar 10

An own goal three minutes from time gave Burnham a 2-1 win at Aylesbury last night and moved them six points clear at the top of the Midlands Division.

Stuart Swift put the Blues in front of 38 minutes when he curled home a free-kick from the edge of the box after new signing Trevor Charlery had been fouled.

Ryan Bird twice came close to adding to that lead but he saw headers crash against the post and crossbar as Jamie Jarvis' dominated.

But the league leaders were shocked midway through the second half when ex-Burnham player Jon Montgomery equalised.

It looked like the goal would earn the home side a point but with just three minutes remaining Ashley James turned the ball into his own net to give the visitors the win.
