What's the key to car park riddle?

1:47pm Fri 3rd Jul 09:: written by Justin Burns

Shoppers are being driven crazy by their car immobiliser systems which are mysteriously going haywire outside a shopping arcade in Maidenhead.

After picking up groceries and other goods at shops in Highway Avenue, some motorists have come outside to find their systems are dead, leaving them stranded.

The owners of Land Rover Discoveryes have been particularly affected and some motorists have had to be towed away by breakdown firms after their systems packed up.

To the bemusement of the drivers, after being taken a few metres up the road the immobiliser systems in their vehicles are in full working order once again.

Some believe the cause may be due to the frequency of the immobilisers being the same or similar as a mobile phone mast in the area.
