Tilley surprised by Windsor's winning run

Ahead of their clash with neighbours Windsor CC tomorrow (Saturday), Datchet CC skipper Nick Tilley has admitted his surprise at how well the Home Park club are doing.

Windsor are currently on a seven-game winning streak, while TVL Division 2A rivals Datchet have had a mixed season and currently sit third.

Tomorrow though, Tilley is aiming to bring an end to his rivals’ good form.

“I’m quite surprised with how well they’re doing,” said Tilley. “They’ve got some talented players, but it’s the same players as last year who are doing well this year.”

On ending Windsor’s incredible run which has seen them go top of the league, Tilley added: “I’m keen to do that.

“There’s a lot of local rivalry there and we’re keen to end that run.”

Tomorrow’s match at London Road signals the halfway point in a season which has seen Datchet left to rue missed opportunities.

“It’s been a little bit up and down,” summed up Tilley. “We’ve had good wins and disappointing losses.

“It’s been one of those seasons where games turn on decisive moments. There’s been small areas where if we’d taken our chances we could be up alongside Windsor.”

Unfortunately, Datchet go into the clash missing a couple of key players.

“We’re a little bit weaker than I would have liked for the game, but we’ll give it our all,” stated Tilley.
