RESULTS: Marlow half marathon goes with a bang

9:40am Tue 4th Nov 08:: written by Laura Enfield

More than 800 runners took to the damp Buckinghamshire countryside at the weekend for a gruelling test of endurance.

The 16th Marlow Half Marathon started with a bang from a new location inside Sir William Borlase's Grammar School and took competitors on a one-lap route out as far as the Hambledon valley.

The 13-mile race is officially recognised by Runners World magazine as the third hardest one of its distance in the country.
To mark its proximity to Bonfire Night it was started rather unusually with a firework.

Eddie O'Gorman from Chiltern Harriers beat off the competition to finished first in one hour, 14 minutes and 42 seconds.
Maidenhead Athletic Club runner, Mike Trees, came in second, which he credited to a pair of cutting edge trainers called Newtons.
