Scott ready for 'crucial week'

1:00pm Thu 4th Mar 10:: written by Charles Watts

Runaway league leaders Windsor & Eton are entering a ‘crucial’ week in terms of their title assault, according to boss Keith Scott.

The Royalists, who sit a massive 16 points clear at the top of Division I South & West, host third-placed Paulton Rovers on Saturday before play-off chasing Gosport Borough visit Stag Meadow on Tuesday night.

Two wins against their fellow promotion rivals will move Windsor onto 82 points and Scott knows that will have a huge psychological effect on the teams chasing them.

He said: “We’re at a crucial stage of the season in terms of the games we’ve got coming up.

“The points we could get on board in the next couple of games would really help us to get where we want to be.

“The players have put themselves in a position where, if we play well enough and get maximum points from these games, we will move onto the 82 point mark.

“Psychologically I think that will dent a lot of the chasing pack’s confidence because they will look at that and think: ‘How do we claw that back?’”

Scott added: “At the moment though, all we’re really focusing on is the Paulton game on Saturday – we can’t really look beyond that.

“It will be a tough game because they’ve got a better record away from home than they do at home – they’ve only lost twice on the road.”
