A winning rendition of the Ben.E.King classic Stand By Me was one of the tunes that helped propel a local girl and her choir to the semi finals of TV show Last Choir Standing.

Freyja Sculpher, 23, from Datchet, was part of the ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music) Gospel Choir which sang its way through to the semi finals of the BBC show on Saturday.

The choir - who also performed Al Green and Annie Lennox's 'Put A Little Love In Your Heart' - won praise from a panel of judges, including singer Russell Watson.

Freyja told the Express: "It was very tense but amazing at the same time."

The semi finals will be aired on Saturday and one choir will be eliminated by the public.
The remaining three choirs will then face off for the grand final the following on Saturday, August 30.

Frejya said: "We are just happy that we have got this far and if we go further then that will be brilliant."
