Bench in memory of Cricket president

A bench has been built in memory of a former president for Holyport Cricket Club.

The memorial sits in the club's grounds in Moneyrow Green, in memory of Norman House, who died at the age of 90 in May last year.

The father-of-three sons was a cricket club president for 25 years.

His son Jonathan said: "Sport was a big part of my father's life, so it is wonderful that Holyport Cricket Club has commemorated him in this way."

Norman lived in White Acres Drive in Holyport and moved to the village after serving in the navy.

The grandfather-of-nine set up his own business from home where he grew mushrooms before supplying them to various hotels and shops in the area. He also worked for Prudential Insurance Company.

The bench was presented to Jonathan and his other brothers Stuart and Christopher yesterday by current club chairman Paul Morgan.
