A tonne of cannabis uncovered in Slough

A tonne of cannabis has been recovered by police from a business premises in Slough.

Officers from the Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) recovered the haul from a road haulage and distribution premises in Slough on Tuesday.

Two consignments of cannabis which were destined for separate locations in Manchester and Kent were found, totalling more than one tonne of herbal and resin cannabis.

Darren Anthony Moores, 41, from Haywood, Lancashire, was arrested and later charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis (resin), production of cannabis, and abstracting electricity.

He has been charged in connection with the consignment of 600kg of cannabis resin that was recovered, which has a street value of about £2m.

Enquires are still ongoing as to the consignment of herbal cannabis, weighing about 600kg with a value of about £4m, which was destined for Kent.

Moores remains in custody and is due to appear at Slough Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
