Save Windsor Fire campaign taken to shadow minister

1:53pm Thu 14th Jan 10:: written by Francis Batt

The fight to save Windsor Fire Station as a 24 hour a day operation has been taken to a Conservative Shadow Minister.

Royal Borough leader, Cllr David Burbage, has lobbied Shadow Local Government and Planning Minister Bob Neill, asking him to support the fight to stop plans by Berkshire Fire Authority to shut Windsor between 8pm and 8am.

This follows the decision by the Local Government Authority (LGA) to dismiss the Royal Borough’s application to take charge of the fire service from the Berkshire authority.
Mr Neill has asked for further information from the borough.

Mr Burbage said:  "This fight is not over and we will continue to do everything in our power to retain night cover at Windsor.

"With the relief road from Windsor to Slough being reduced to one lane for necessary repairs before the Olympics, it is as vital as ever that Windsor retains the night cover to ensure speedy responses which can save lives."
