Transplant is a success for Leukaemia dad

A doting father is looking forward to a new chapter in his life after beating the odds in his battle with leukaemia.

Chris Maury, of Lowbrook Drive, Cox Green, is back home following a successful bone marrow transplant at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.  Frozen cord blood from babies born in France and America were introduced to his system in hospital this summer.

The 38-year-old is battling back to health following the bleakest year of his life in which he was diagnosed with the disease.

"It looks like the intense treatment and the prayers and positivity mean I am now in remission," said Chris. "This still needs to be monitored and biopsies will be conducted every three months but this is clearly amazing news."

He is now looking forward to Christmas with his boys Jake and Luke and wife Sarah.
