New equipment is being installed at a school due to open its doors in September.

The new Manor Green School will replace Holyport Manor Special School and will provide 150 places for children.

It will have specialist classrooms for science, art, computer work, design technology and food technology.

There will be sensory facilities, a hydrotherapy pool, a parents' room, therapy rooms and a training room.

Contractors Willmott Dixon have now handed over the building to the Royal Borough and the council has started fitting out and installing equipment so the new school can open in September.

On the same site the new 24-bed respite unit, designed to meet the varying special needs of the children, is also on schedule and due to be handed over to the council in August.

It will also be ready for its first residents in September. Also on the Cox Green site, work is forging ahead on the new £1.3m leisure centre which is on schedule to open in the late summer.
