Ashes cricket captains go head to head in charity golf.
9:59am Wed 22nd Jul 09:: written by Nick MayoCaptains from the cricket world locked horns once again on the golf course in Stoke Poges, as they did in the Ashes.
Aussie captain Ricky Ponting and England leader Andrew Strauss did battle in the Ashes golf challenge at Stoke Park Club in Park Road yesterday to raise thousands for the Child Bereavement Charity, with Ponting's fourball taking the glory.
Hosted by Bray resident Sir Michael Parkinson, together with the Professional Cricketers' Association, it featured James Anderson and Alistair Cook as well as Strauss , straight from Monday's Lords victory over the old foe, and their Aussie counterparts Ponting, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nathan Hauritz, Andrew McDonald and Marcus North.
Former players including Barry Richards, Shane Warne and Jason Gillespie and celebrities such as Rory Bremner, joined the fun and helped raise about £75,000.
