INDIAN OCEAN ROWERS: Audio blog from the open seas

8:10am Sun 19th Jul 09:: written by Sonia Kapur

A pair of plucky rowers have only 600 nautical miles left of their epic journey but things are still looking tough as they find themselves now staring at food to fill their empty bellies.

But Jamie Facer-Childs still seems to be staying surprisingly positive, as he rows across the Indian Ocean with school friend James Thysse.

In an exclusive interview with reporter Sonia Kapur, via satellite phone, Maidenhead man Jamie spoke about  the pair's frustration when they were unable to move past the 1000 nautical mile mark.

With strong winds, the friends found themselves unable to row for days on end and had to pass their time by playing cards and eating chocolate in their cabins.

The 22 year-old who celebrated his birthday out at sea last week, spoke to us via his satellite phone on Friday.
