As a schoolboy at St Piran's in Maidenhead Jamie Goddard decided he wanted to be a singer and musician.
What started out as a passion for violin and piano became a desire to be in a band after hearing the rock band KISS.
He was in a string of bands growing up and finally formed Jamie and the First Class in 2000 with former band mates Mikey Bennett, his brother and dad, both called Martyn and Jamie became the frontman.
Since then the lineup has changed and the current band of Jamie, Neil, Dan and Stu have been rocking together for the past 18 months, performing a mix of covers, school disco classics and thier own songs in gigs across the world, as far afield as the United Arab Emirates, Poland and Israel.
Jamie describes them as a rock n roll band but they also play a party set and tweak their set to suit the ocassion, be it a private function, a gig or a holiday show at Butlins. Their shows at the School Disco in Hammersmith are a favourite of Jamie's.
Unlike the reality TV stars of today who want overnight fame, Jamie says he prefers the gradual progression to fame.
"At the moment everyone is after overnight success. The way we have done it is a slow progression of playing to more and more people in more and more countries and there is that feeling that you are getting somewhere.
As well as working with the band, Jamie is pursuing a solo career and focusing on songwriting.
"I have always written songs since I was at school, it was a way of expressing myself without talking about it. More recently my stuff has been about being away from home and missing your partner."
