Cinderella - Reading Hexagon

It's a favourite fairytale and now a favourite ballet.
It works well because there is plenty of action and no long drawn out solos.
The stepmother and ugly sisters were charmingly obnoxious with their garish costumes and attention-grabbing moves.
The prince was perfectly handsome, with some of the longest and most agile legs I've ever seen.
Cinderella was a delight and when dancing solo floated across the stage with the most wonderful expressions.
Dwarfed by almost every other dancer, she was almost too delicate when paired with her prince and looked more like his much younger sister.
This aside they both danced beautifully and with sincerity.
Unlike Disney, this show had no special effects and the fairy godmother was joined by four 'seasonal' fairies, adding magic without a wand.
As always from Moscow City Ballet, the costumes and staging were stunning and a treat for the eye.
It was a joy for young and old.
