A call has gone out for the people of Windsor to come out of their shells.
Cafe Rouge is marking 'National Escargot Day' by shipping in more than 34,000 snails to serve up in their restaurants across the country.
The chain celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and after selling out of the slippery delights in a matter of days last year, the national restaurant chain has doubled its order for this year’s limited-edition snail menu.
People visiting the branch in Windsor will have to shell out just £4.95 to get a taste of the mighty mollusc in a variety of sauces including rich garlic butter, melted goat’s cheese and spinach and mushroom.
Those watching their waistlines will be pleased to hear the humble snail is highly nutritious, being low in fat and high in magnesium and protein.
The snail menu is available until May 31 - while stocks last.
