The row over a Muslim name associated with an award-winning restaurant in the Cookhams looks as if it has come to an end.
It has been about four months since the Advertiser reported that Malik Ahmed of Cookham's Malik's Tandoori Restaurant (pictured) was threatening to sue the owner of takeaway Malik's Indian in Newcastle Under Lyme, for using the same name.
Mr Ahmed was worried that other businesses may try to 'steal' the name of his eatery that has won a number of awards and is named after the entrepreneur.
But takeaway owner, Mohammed Ali, has now presented documents to lawyers to prove that he is still known as Malik, despite changing his name five years ago.
Mr Ahmed's solicitor Tim Child's said: "They have produced us with evidence saying that they have always known Mr Ali as Malik. On the basis that they are true, which we are currently investigating, we will not take it further."
