Ginni is a South African born musician with music in her blood. Her father Robin is a composer and producer of African and World music, as well as a for film and television. Her mother Lisa is a jazz singer and worked as a promoter and publisher in the music industry. Her grandparents were also musicians. She said: "I always remember having music around me when I was a child and growing up and this is one of the reasons that music is such an integral part of my life to this day."
Ginni found fame when she was young after taking the lead role as a singer/dancer in a Broadway-type production in South Africa. However she decided to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter.
She came along to the UK to visit her father in Hurst and "left Cape Town in the winter and arrived in England in the summer with £5 and a world of excitement in my pocket."
And she didn't leave when her year's open-air ticket was due to expire.
Ginni now lives in Windsor, and got a break while busking on Eton Bridge. Without the piano she loved, she took to playing the guitar, and that is when the pub landlord of the then Hogs Head (now the George) came out and offered her her first gig. This opened the door to her gigging life in the Thames Valley.
Since then she has performed at various pubs, clubs and music venues all over the UK as well as Amsterdam, California, Turkey and back in her hometown in South Africa.
Ginni self-financed her first debut solo album, Between These Walls, in 2001. She then toured and 2,500 of the albums sold from gigs alone.
In June 2004 her second album 'Sweetest Dreams' became a limited edition after she was signed to indie label Madam Music in the September.
This deal led to her third album, self-titled 'Ginni', recorded at Westside Studios.
Her single Jump the Sky also appeared on British at Midem sampler CD with songs from Nizlope, Goldie Lookin Chain and Delays.
Her two-year record deal ended in 2006, and she rested throughout 2007. She is still writing with a vast catalogue of songs in her pocket and is looking forward to releasing many more albums.
